Hello all,
Been too quite here. Lets ride. I am planning to ride on Sunday to Sugarloaf or the Ocala area. Meet up at Hooters at 8:30 am and then over to Deland to pick up Wisey1 and Slowpoke. If you want to ride then post up. If not don't bother to show up at Hooters as I will go directly to Deland. If you are closer to the Deland area then meet there at 9:00 am.
Lets get back to the important thing that Dave has enabled us to do here, exchange information on, getting together and riding! Cudos for Dave making us a place to post. :D Dust off that bike and lets get together. How about it Katana Dave and Kim, Daytona Dave, Stash, Tj, XXXbird etc and anyone else who has been lurking and not posted or those who have posted in the past.
Dag gone it lets ride!
Maybe TJ would be up to lead again? I would but then the pace might not be fast enough!
If you can't make it at least post up some lame excuse why all of you who are members on this board won't be there! :D At least let us know that you still have a keyboard and internet access and you appreciate this space we call "home". Dave puts a lot of effort in providing us a place to post and it seems that we (I am guilty as well) are lurking and not posting.
By the way Gixxers rule, just look at Matt Maladin! You Honda, Yahama, Kawasuki guys eat your heart out! Suzuki will take the AMA superbike and you know it and thats why you are soo depressed and will not respond! And even the no show Gobert can't even do anything on a Ducati!

Hey Brent,
1st, my lame excuse. Well it's actually not lame at all and the best one there is. It's me and the kids this weekend so that takes over all my plans. But next Sunday looks like a lot better.
2nd, you are right. Yesterday the 25th had 1934 hits on this site. I'm not sure what these people do while they are here but I don't think it has anything to do with a keyboard.
3rd, Gix1K should be the bike the beat. The new rule changes for 2003 fall right into what that bike is all about and make it obvious that if you can't win on one then you can't win. But there's still a lot of racing left. Matty's arrogance still has plenty of time to kick in and screw it up for him.
FYI - there is another guy here that seems to do the same thing you do for the same people you do it for. I'm thinking you may know who it is.
Thanks for the post, now anyone else ............

Hi Dave,
I'd say you have a very good excuse for not riding. Kids do come first. I'm going bowling with mine today.
Wow 1934 hits just yesterday? It was probably me 1 hit for the post and came back 1933 times to see if someone had responded
On the AMA superbike issue: Suzuki had a good idea that the rules would be changed. Thus a new 1K was designed. I never understood why the rules were made to favor a twin with the extra 250CC's of displacement. AMA must have been following World Superbike rules which we know were made to favor Ducati. World Superbike may as well be a Ducati only event like the BMW boxer cup. The only bike that can keep up is the GSXR 1K. I think close racing will build the sport and AMA / World Superbike should take some lessons from Nascar. Maybe next year when the new 1K Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Honda's come out we will have some close racing again. I wish Aron Yates would get up there and knock Maladin off his pedestle.

If it take this riddle literally no I don't know who it is. Maybe you were talking about my alterego form earlier this year?
Na Na Na Na Na, We need a little controversy!

P.S. OK what about the other 92 registered members?

I would love to go but I'm not sure if I'll be able to yet. I'll definately post back and let you know.
I just made a two-way trip from Gville 2 Daytona <-> in 4hrs and let me warn ya the FHP is pretty heavy on Rt 40. I also saw the biggest gator sunning itself on the edge of the road-just ouside of Astor, I wondered "what if" as I rode by....
Why hasn`t Yates stayed on the paced with Maladin?

I like Yates, and he can ride the wheels off anything. If a Suk has to win I'd like it to be him. The rule change was needed, I didn't agree with different cc's for different designs either. Suzuki throws a lot of racer money into most classes so it makes sense for them to be looking good now. The AMA isn't beyond influence. Kaw seems to always be behind the curve with the bikes sometimes, but their budget isn't what any of the others have. Put eBos on a 1K Kaw and I think it would be game over for everyone else.

Nope, I think you and codyruss both "bring good things to life" if you know I mean. From the little I know it sounds like you both work on the same gear for them too. Just a hunch.

codyrussR6,
Do you work or the meatball?
Would be glad to have you along if you can make it. Right now its only a total of 3 riders if that makes a decision easier for you. I know some people are a little hesitant to ride in big groups of riders. We will probably be out most of the day but you can drop out and leave anytime you need to. Welcome to the board and the Daytona area. :D

NC30,
Thanks for the info about FHP on hwy 40 and the gator in Astor
I don't know why Yates hasn't been able to keep up with Maladin. Must be a handling / setup issue because I believe Yates has talent that equals if not surpasses Maladin.

Dave,
I agree about Eric being able to win if he were on a GSXR 1k. Its been a dissapointment that Eric's team has been unable to use the 3mm bore increase to better advantage. It was amazing last year to see Eric sometimes beating Nickey on the ZX7R. It also amazing to see that new ZX6R beating GSXR750's :?
I agree about the budget Kawasaki has compared with the other manufactures. It shows in the MotoGP class. Honda can outspend every other manufacturer probably combined.
I hope someone gets up there to give some good competition to Maladin. Maladin just has that personality that makes you want him to loose. There is no doubt that Maladin has talent but is not the top rider in AMA superbike.
Last year Maladin rode one Auzzie Superbike race and the kids down under kicked his butt!
Riddle me this though, why has Ducati not won one AMA superbike race? Is it that Ducati does not care about AMA racing? The 998's are able to beat the GSXR1K in World superbike. If Gobert doesn't get his act together he could be out of AMA superbike. I don't think Yamaha would take him back, nor would the other brands.
Have fun with the kids tomorrow. Looks like the weather is going to be good. Did you go to the Airshow at Patrick AFB? Seeing both the Tbirds and Blue Angles in one day is a rare oppertunity.

Brent

I'm just not a Mladin fan, and I don't know too many either.
You can spell the reason the Ducs don't win in AMA...... DNF. Can win if you don't finish.
Kaw will have the bike next year, but I'm not counting out the ZX8 with Eric riding just yet.
The air show is tomorrow, Sunday. We're going.

Dave,
Hope you had a good time at the airshow. We had a good ride today no accidents and no trafic violations. Just one off road excursion, me in the lead, going too fast. Bike and I ok  As NC30 said the police were out in force today. I passed an unmarked going double nickle and he didn't bother. Great weather, and good seeing some people who I have not seen in a while. Most of all we got out and put some miles on.
I can definately relate about the Maladin fan feeling. He is probably the most despised AMA superbike rider. A shame but its his own personality that has caused this situation.
As for the Ducati situation the World Superbike Duk's can go the distance so why not AMA? I don't think Ducati even cares about AMA Superbike which is a shame.
I agree about the ZX8 don't count out Eric to win a few races but the championship seems to be locked up by Suzuki :D I do very much like Eric and I always favor Kawasaki second to Suzuki.
Thanks for the place to post. I for one do appreciate the time, effort and money you spend to make this site available. Its a shame that most lurk and wont post.
Can you rent out to me the fantastic garage you have? :D
Anyone interested in going in on some equipment to change and balance our own tires? Or maybe PCS would give us a discount to change the board members tires :) I might be interested in PCS for service work on other things if the price was right.
Also I am starting to plan a trip to Deals Gap late May or early June. Anyone interested?
P.S. Slowpoke is slow no more! Drat those young riders that can be soo quick! :x I guess I should be called grandpa

I'm a mechanic by trade, and Snap-On was in today and in their flyer was a mounting machine for motorcycle tires and also a balancer. Very pricy though. If you could find used ones that would be the way to go. Another thing is you would need a decent size compressor to run the mounter. We have a rim clamp style mounter at our shop and i used it to mount my tires, no problem. Couldn't balance them, but fortunately have not felt any vibes, even at higher speeds. Next time Snap-on comes in I'll ask him if he knows of anyone getting rid of their equipment. I'll ask Matco tomorrow too.

Sorry we couldn't make it. We were in Lauderdale for my mom's 60th birthday.
We did, however, make it down to Miami to our favorite Honda shop and I got to test ride the 600RR. Awesome bike! If we weren't building that new house, I'd have ridden one home. ;)
Don't know if we can ride this weekend or not. Will have to play it by ear until later in the week. Glad you guys had fun on your ride.
As far as the twin Katanas, don't know if they check the board anymore or not. Last I heard, they were selling the bikes.

Staish,
Wow you got to test ride a sport bike at a dealer? You must know someone at the dealership as the local Daytona dealers don't let anyone test ride.
That new 600RR Honda looks great. It's about time to trade in the F4 huh? That way when we ride in a group I can feel beter about being out ridden! :P
Good to hear from you again. I can't make a ride this weekend as I will be working. Hope you can put something together and get Dave and that 180HP monster out riding again

Worsty,
Thanks for the reply about tire changing equipment. Isn't there a manual set of tire changing tools. I don't want to pay thousands of dollars for equipment to change tires. It's just not economically feasable if you know what I mean. If you know of some manual tire changing stuff please let me know.

We're out for this weekend. We're doing an "iron butt" ride, 1000 miles in less than 24 hours. Ugh! Maybe we can all get together another weekend.
