Anyone up for a ride next Sunday? Route is up in the air at the moment. Maybe Daytona Dave might be interested and could lead us to some good areas? How about the Sugarloaf area? Weather forecast is for highs in the upper sixty's and partly sunny so it should be day to ride! Maybe meet up at 9:30 AM at the 7-11 at the corner of Taylor road and Airport road. Lets ride!
Regards,
Brent

Hi Katana02,
If your friends show up then we will probably meet you guys at the barbecue place on 40 near 314. Then your friend can show us the roads that he has been telling you about.
If they don't show up I was thinking of the sugarloaf mountain area in Lake county. I'll give you a ring tonight and see if we can settle on a meeting place.

SloPok2,
You are more than welcome to join Sunday's ride. Right now we have four definite riders, 3 maybe riders plus yourself.
The bike range from a cruiser, Katana 600, GS500, GSXR-750 and the big dog FZR-1000. We really don't ride super fast or do anything really crazy. We will probably meet in De Land at the Friendly's restaurant on the NW corner of woodland blvd at about 9:30 am.
I do like to get peoples phone number so if the time changes or the weather gets bad (like rain or high below high 50's) I can call and let you know. Just send me a PM that way it won't be on the board for all of the telemarketing people to call.
If you aren't comfortable giving out the phone number then just meet us at Friendly's at 9:30.
Thanks for the reply Dave.

Not sure if TJ and I will make it or not. We had actually planned on riding Sunday, probably to the Sugarloaf area, so maybe we'll stop by and see if we're headed in the same direction. If we show, great and if not, don't wait up or anything. Have a good, safe ride.

im assuming your coming from new symerna. take 44 into deland. after you pass the I-4 ramps, the next Light you come to should be Kepler, take a Right on Kepler(you will see a sign that says To Hwy 92). Head towards hwy92 (about 3 miles). then take a LEFT on 92, about a mile down you will come to a big intersection. Walmart will be on the far left, and Friendlys will be on your far right.

Thanks for the directions. We're planning on being there and I think Daytona Dave is coming with us. He may know where it is too. We're coming from Port Orange. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Sounds like he should feel lucky
I think taking it easy until the comfort level is there is a good idea, there's no need to prove anything. No one minds everyone riding at their own pace, plus it sucks pulling a wadded up bike or rider out of the ditch.
Maybe we need to go out and I can teach you all my bad riding habits !

im up for learning anytime. i have a copy of twist of the wrist 2, plus alot of other material, but applying what ive read is the tricky part. time needed in the saddle is also a given too.

Hey Dave,
Keith Code is one of the best and that's good material to have. Some of the riding instruction stuff you see is focused too much on racing but his can carry over to street riding. He had his school at NFMSP in October and if I had been in town I would have been there.
You're right, there's no substitue for time spent riding and you have an excellent bike to play with. If you want to go ride sometime let me know. Getting a deserted area to practice in is always fun, I try to do that as much as possible even though I've been riding a while (a long while). My schedule is pretty tight most of the time but I do try to get out as much as I can so don't hesitate to ask.
It looks nice out today, I may have to go out and play a little myself.
Dave

Better things to do than ride? Ha!
We already have plans and our friends are counting on us, so I can't cancel this late, but normally we would have taken you up on it.
As far as the pace being fast, that's just because TJ has been riding forever and I've also got LOTS of miles on bikes and that's what we're comfortable with. Everyone stayed at the back and rode slow when they were starting out. It just comes with experience and we would never want anyone to ride above their comfort level. As Dave says, it sucks to pull someone and their bike out of the ditch. Been there as the puller and the pullee. We thought you did great and we look forward to riding with you again sometime.
We typically ride on Mondays, as we're off then and there's lots less traffic, but we get a Sunday in once in awhile too.
